Traditional style Butter Chicken served with luxurious Saffron Rice and a refreshing Mango Rose Lassi
Prep and cook time 60 mins
Cook Butter Chicken with the recipe from the restaurant that first invented this dish 70 years ago. You get 13 herbs and spices pre-mixed into 4 separate sachets. As different spices cook differently, each mix goes in at different stages so you build layers of lip smacking flavour.
Butter Chicken and Saffron Rice are a match made in heaven.
To make the rice, the kit comes with aged Basmati Rice and a small jar of grade 1 Persian Saffron. Steep the saffron in hot water. When the water turns golden yellow, use this liquid to cook the rice.
Finally, Mango Rose Lassi to round off the meal. The lassi mix is made with organic rose dust and spiced cardamom sugar. Just add a scoop of this mix to some yogurt and a fruit of your choice and blend for 30 seconds for a perfect summer drink. Traditionally lassi is made with ripe mangoes, but it works just as well with blueberries, strawberries or even plain.
You also get a fun, beautifully illustrated recipe book that makes cooking the meal as much fun as eating it.
Now it does take time to whip up this meal as you are cooking everything from scratch. There's no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. Spicecraft kits are gluten free and nut free.
This beautifully presented kit makes a great gift. So if you have a Masterchef fan on your list, they'll love one of these.

- If you're not cooking for 6, this Butter Chicken freezes really well for up to 3 months so you can get multiple meals out it. In fact it tastes even better the next time.
- If you prefer a milder flavour, especially with kids, cook the Butter Chicken as per the recipe, then add in a few dollops of cream just before serving. This way you can adjust the heat to individual preferences.
- It is highly recommended to use light thickened cream as the fat in full cream will dull the spices.
- The Saffron Rice in this kit is a revelation. We promise once you’ve tried this technique, you won’t make rice any other way.

How it is made
The spices are sourced from different regions around the world, depending on where they grow best. They are then ground, roasted and blended right here in Sydney. The mixes are then sent to our HAACP certified contract packing facility in south Sydney where they are machine filled into high barrier sachets for maximum freshness.
We then send these sachets off to Disability Services Australia where they are finally assembled into kits.
