The Butter Chicken Story
Butter Chicken was first invented 70 years ago at Moti Mahal, a restaurant in Old Delhi.
The restaurant was famous for it’s Tandoori Chicken (whole chicken marinated with spices and grilled in a very hot clay oven). Certain cuts of the Tandoori Chicken didn’t sell too well, so the chef came up with a creamy spiced tomato sauce, popped the chicken into it and called it Butter Chicken. The rest as they say is history.
After sampling a lot of Butter Chicken at Moti Mahal and plenty of testing and trials, we worked out a recipe that captured the flavoursome essence of the original dish while keeping it simple to make.
With Spicecraft you only need to follow these easy steps to recreate the original magic in your own kitchen.

Must try!
I made this for a two year anniversary and we loved it! Best meal I've ever cooked! It's a lengthy process but totally with it and very in-depth and well organised instructions are included. Also packaged in the cutest box.

So glad I tried this one
I’ve tried all spice blends including the supposedly authentic ones from Asian grocery stores - none of them were good enough - until Spicecraft! So glad I tried this one. My family loved it. Quality taste for a fraction of the price of takeaway.

A wonderful dining experience.
Fantastic product that makes a wonderful authentic and gluten free meal. I’m giving these as gifts for Xmas to friends and family.

I’m now a regular customer
The flavours are simply the best. The instructions are very detailed and easy to follow. We suggest having 2 people help with the cooking, there are a few steps to follow but well worth the unforgettable Indian experience.

Best butter chicken EVER
This is the best butter chicken that I have ever made. Just the right amount of spice with some raita on the side. I have now ordered some for my whole extended family! It was so easy to make and makes a generous amount per meal kit

Like a restaurant
This butter chicken is nothing like I've had from a take-aways (except maybe in London!). So much flavour, so well balanced. Definitely good value for money, and great to have on hand.

Better than the restaurant!
We were introduced to Spice Craft at this year’s Easter show and once we tasted it there was no way we weren’t getting some! I’ve just ordered another 8 boxes! The recipe is perfect and adaptable to different spice levels. Hands down 5 stars.

- Hyderabadi Chicken BiryaniIt is believed that the Mughals from Persia first introduced Biryani to India 400 years ago. Since then this dish has evolved into a number of regional versions.
